February 2008 - London area clinics to open
November 2007 - Doctorate
I presented my dissertation entitled:
Arms-Length Experts and Fundamentalist Causes: The impact of the internet on Psychology.
A study into the effect of malicious mentors and lay advisors on those who use the internet as a source of advice and support and how such interactions may affect identification, diagnosis and treatment.
On gaining my doctorate, I had no intention of pursuing a mainstream career in psychology. The field in which I choose to work and the breadth of the remit I have given myself would be impossible to achieve within the constraints of the healthcare system as it exists.
The role I always for myself envisaged was that of psychotherapist , critical friend, transition planner and adviser, and interface between family, friends, employers and colleagues.
In summary, a facilitator, empowering and helping people to help themselves to take the key decisions and holding their hand when necessary.
